Tourism ties with Qatar are gaining momentum as Armenia sets its sights on deepening travel and investment relations. Lusine Gevorgyan, head of Armenia’s Tourism Committee, praised Qatar’s booming tourism sector during her official visit to Doha, marking a new chapter of collaboration aimed at boosting two-way travel.
Meeting with Qatari business leaders, Gevorgyan showcased Armenia’s diverse attractions—from lush mountains and eco-farms to its 25,000 historical landmarks and thriving adventure tourism scene. “Our summer and autumn seasons are ideal for hiking, off-roading, and cultural discovery,” she said. Armenia recently clinched the “Best Adventure Destination” title at ITB Berlin, highlighting its growing appeal.
Daily direct flights by Qatar Airways have slashed travel time between the two nations to just two and a half hours. Qatari citizens enjoy visa-free access, and residents can easily secure e-visas, making travel seamless. “It’s like taking a taxi to visit your friend,” Gevorgyan said.
Armenia is actively inviting Qatari investment in tourism infrastructure, especially in hotels and restaurants. The Armenian government’s digital-first approach allows business registration in just one day. With halal food options increasing, Armenia is aligning its services to suit Qatari preferences and uphold cultural sensitivity.
Despite currently modest figures—with only 300 Qatari visitors last year—the outlook is bright. Armenia is launching fresh marketing campaigns in Qatar, coinciding with its participation in the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai.
Gevorgyan emphasized Armenia’s commitment to sustainable tourism through 2030, focusing on quality over quantity. “We are here to build real, respectful tourism ties with Qatar,” she said. “Our nations share a deep respect for family, tradition, and hospitality—values that will shape our tourism future.”
